A search is underway for a teen in Nashua, N.H., who may have fallen into a storm drain Friday during torrential rain.

Multiple agencies are searching local waterways for 16-year-old Jacob Goulet, who was reported missing Saturday morning, according to a news release from the Nashua Police Department. The search, overseen by Nashua police, includes the Nashua River, the Merrimack River and the city’s storm drain system.

Goulet was last seen the night before, when he walked home from a friend's house in the heavy rain.

Police received a citizen report around 9:40 p.m. Friday of a person who may have been swept into an open storm drain, according to the release. The witness didn't witness anyone fall into the storm drain but noticed some items scattered around the open storm drain.

A flash flood warning was in effect in Nashua Friday night. Nashua Fire Department officials told The New Hampshire Union Leader that the water pressure rose so quickly it caused sewer main covers to pop off.

The heavy water flow prevented authorities from checking if someone had fallen in, the release said.

They recovered the items and linked them to Goulet. Video surveillance confirmed that Goulet, a student at Nashua North High School, had the same personal items that were found and that he was walking in the area of the storm drain, according to the release.

Police described Goulet as a 5-foot-8, 200-pound teen with short black hair and long hair on the top. A picture provided by the police department shows him with a mohawk. He was last seen wearing a denim vest with metal studs, gray shirt, black shorts and black converse sneakers.

Nashua police asked that anyone who sees Goulet call 603-594-3500.
